Kenroy Wilson, Founder & CEO

Kenroy has devoted his time and skills to creating opportunities that aim to provide support and resources to improve the well-being and quality of life of young people in the community

Motivated by an experience in his youth that could have diverted him down a self-destructive path, and inspired by those who intervened at this pivotal moment in his life, Kenroy has devoted his time and skills to creating opportunities that aim to provide support and resources to improve the well-being and quality of life of young people in the community.

In 2010, Kenroy founded The Wilson Project Employment and Training Centre in memory of his late father, Ralph Wilson, who was murdered during Kenroy’s teenage years. The positive relationships, mentorship, and support Kenroy experienced during that time stood as his inspiration for founding the project. It is in this way that he has been able to provide young people access to positive mentorship and character building opportunities just as he experienced.

An engaged and contributing member of society, Kenroy has championed many community safety initiatives within the GTA. He has served as a volunteer with the local Neighbourhood Watch, quickly moving up to Block Captain and then promoted to a Police Volunteer with Durham Regional Police Services (DRPS). Kenroy regularly assists with DRPS events in the community including Crime Prevention Training, the “Lock It Up or Lose It” Campaign, Anti-Bullying Campaign, Racing Against Drugs, and many more.

Kenroy has also organized a number of community social events over the past many years that have helped to create closer and more positive relationships between neighborhoods and communities by promoting an environment of trust and inclusiveness.  Through his outreach efforts, Kenroy has contributed to promoting a healthier, stronger, more friendly and vibrant community where crime and anti-social behaviour are less likely to occur.

Named a Canada 150 Community Leader for the 150th anniversary of confederation for the Town of Ajax, Kenroy serves as a community leader and valuable member of society. Kenroy is also a Member of the Durham District School Board Equity Steering Committee, among others, and at present is the Coordinator of the Diverse Reintegration Youth Program for Community Justice Alternatives of Durham Region .

Also known to frriends as "Kenny" and "Ken", Kenroy is a entrepreneur and a licensed mechanic by trade; the proud owner of Ken Co’ s Car Care Inc. and The Wilson Project Inc.

In his off time, Kenroy enjoys dancing, travelling, and spending time with family and friends.
